International Financial Reporting Standards Foundation

The Idea
As global adoption of the ISSB Standards accelerated, the IFRS Foundation needed a clear and engaging way to explain Accounting and Sustainability Standards as well as its new FSA Credential—an advanced qualification empowering professionals to integrate sustainability into financial analysis.
Because standards work only when they’re understood, connected and applied — we built a narrative arc across three animations:

Understand: What is the FSA Credential, why it matters, how it empowers professionals.

Connect: How Sustainability Standards link back into the financial world and global markets.

Apply: How Accounting Standards create the language of financial reporting, across 140+ jurisdictions.
The Production
Hot Soup created a three-part series of traditional explainer animations using a dynamic mix of treated photography, bold text, and 2D animation. We highlighted key aspects of global relevance, accessibility, and professional value.
The visual approach merged financial and environmental worlds through motion graphics: spinning globes, orbiting icons, and clean transitions illustrating key concepts like “core principles,” “real-world application,” and “smart decision-making.”
Pre-production:

Scriptwriting in close collaboration with IFRS subject-matter experts — clarity over jargon.

Storyboards and animatics that allowed IFRS teams to see the visual logic before we animated.

A design system: color palette aligned to IFRS brand, icons, typography to reflect global professional audience.
Production:

Three fully-animated films: each ~2 minutes.

Motion graphics designed to visualize abstract concepts: e.g., jurisdictions map, disclosure flows, credential pathways.

Voice-over, audio mix, and sound design that emphasized clarity and global tone.

Versioning ready: layered assets to allow future translations / local language versions.
The Impact

Early feedback indicated improved comprehension: less technical overload, clearer “what it means for me” messaging.

The animated format allowed IFRS to engage broader audiences across regions and channels.

The consistent visual family created a stronger IFRS video brand presence — helping the Foundation unify its communication across Accounting, Sustainability and Credential domains.
