The Idea
We built the concept around one universal truth: every heartbeat matters.
The film follows that rhythm — from classrooms and operating rooms in Cambodia to UCSF where Melvin Scheinman, one of the founding pioneers of clinical cardiac electrophysiology, continues his work.
Through interviews, B-roll, and environmental footage in Cambodia, the film explores how the Foundation's work bridges continents and generations — bringing life-saving cardiac knowledge to places where even a single trained electrophysiologist can change thousands of lives.

The Production
Hot Soup has long been driven by docu-style storytelling — cinematic, character-first, and human at its core.
For The Scheinman Foundation, that experience allowed us to build a story and capture real emotion , even under tight logistical limits.
How we did it:

Partnered directly with local collaborators in Phnom Penh to coordinate access and shooting.

Captured documentary-style footage of training sessions, patient interactions, and on-site mentorship.

Conducted heartfelt interviews with Cambodian physicians describing how Dr. Scheinman’s teachings continue to shape their careers.

Blended local footage with archival materials that honor Dr. Scheinman’s groundbreaking role in establishing clinical cardiac electrophysiology.
